People can invent all the "genders" they like, but there are still only 2 sexes - and they are God's invention. God created the animals male and female, some exceptions noted. Even some plants have two complementary sexes. When He came to human beings He refined this concept...in ways we should be able to appreciate! We've been studying the book of Genesis. It starts with that famous, linear account of Creation, day by day; then in Chapter 2 we get a "flashback" to fill in details about us. A "word," a command, a saying of God - that's all it took to make everything! We're ready for the third-and-final installment of the message, God Said...It was So. Jim has made the point that nothing in creation can explain creation; that is, whatever caused matter and energy is neither matter nor energy. Whatever made space/time is outside space and time. This undermines the foundation of currently-popular theories about origins. Let's continue to think about the universe we live in, and where it must have come from. On the 7th day, God rested from all the work which He had done...and began a new kind of work. Jesus corrected the religious leaders about this, remember. "My Father is working until now," He said. At Creation, God didn't just wind up the world and let it run. He is actively sustaining and supporting it, nanosecond-by- nanosecond...through the Son. But let's think some more about what Jim said yesterday: that God created according to a plan, but with no process. That's how He often works. Beyond The Beginning - Part 2 of 2

"Big bang" was originally a term of derision - and it probably will be again. That's the way science goes; yesterday's "consensus" is today's object of contempt. When scientists in their human pride forget that, they can start to pontificate rather than investigate. Christians may be tempted to try to fit the unchangeable Scriptures into the "science du jour." Yesterday we heard the first part of Jim's sermon, Beyond the Beginning. Today he'll give us more reasons for confidence in the Bible's version of early events.
