The gospel coin has two sides! "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works," Ephesians reveals. Did you catch that? Christians are "His workmanship" - not saved by our works; but created "for good works!" This twin message of God working in us, then working through us, is what the New Testament is all about.

If it seems to you that the Epistles are just kind of "stuffed in" the New Testament haphazardly, stay with us! We can see that Paul's letters are first in the sequence, after the historical books of the Gospels and Acts. So there are some groupings by sender, and recipient. Are they in chronological order? No, that would put 1 Thessalonians up front, or maybe James, or Galatians. But there is a structure, and even a symmetry, to the order of the Epistles. Jim will help us see that today.

Galatianism unties our shoelaces! Theologian Charles Ryrie defined Galatianism as, "Any action of the flesh which hinders spiritual progress." And specifically we're talking about "religious" actions. These are holidays that people observe, or things they do or refrain from doing, that are supposed to make them more godly - but which have the opposite effect. The Christians in Galatia had started the race well, but Paul saw that they were being tripped up.

Half of the Good News is better than none - isn't it? "For I am not ashamed of the gospel," writes Paul to the Romans, "because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes...." And then he catalogs our moral bankruptcy, and then shows us Jesus, the debt payer. That should sound familiar if you've been with us this week.
