We can't sail through life without conflict. But we can pick the right fight. We human beings fight for approval, respect, power. We struggle to "get ahead" or to "change the world." Paul was able to say, at the end of his life, that he had "fought the good fight." And that is one of the five qualifications for the "Crown of Righteousness" that we should all be contending for. If righteousness is a gift, then what does Paul mean by "the Crown of Righteousness?" We've been blowing the dust off of some neglected truths about our coming "employee review," if you will. There will be some things to gain, or to lose, at the Judgment Seat of Christ. One of those rewards is called "the Crown of Righteousness." But how can we understand that bonus, after we've come to believe that righteousness is not something we earn, but something we receive by faith?

There will be tears in heaven. When we read that glorious promise, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes," we understand that there will be tears for Him to wipe away. Will some of those be for our unsaved family members, neighbors and friends? Are we able right now to prevent some of that grief? All men are not re-created equal! The coming Kingdom will put an end to egalitarian fantasies; some there will shine like the moon, some like the variously brilliant stars - forever. The Kingdom of God isn't organized like one of our corporations. You won't find Jesus as the CEO in that top box of an "org chart." He's the hub, and we are the spokes - each of us reports directly to Him. We might have the notion that other Christians should meet with our approval. You say you're not in it for personal glory. That's good; but what about His glory? If we escape hell "by the skin of our teeth" and arrive in heaven smelling like smoke, that'll be fine, we say.
