Your bootstraps are broken! Really, probably most of the people of the world are trying to pull themselves up to heaven by their bootstraps. (For those who first read the book of Hebrews it would have been "sandal straps.") You can be sincere, and be sincerely wrong. In our "melting pot" culture we have to manage to get along with others of different faiths, while avoiding the trap of "pluralism" - in the sense of seeing all belief systems as equally valid. I can respect your right to believe, without believing that you're right. The book of Hebrews addresses people who even had the correct God, but the wrong kind of faith.
