Hearing loss can lead to worse things. In the physical realm, becoming "hard of hearing" can lead to isolation, depression, and even cognitive impairment. And it's the same in the spiritual dimension. A little dullness in hearing and responding to God's voice can grow into very serious disorders. About Priestly Things - Part 2 of 3

Nothing is perfect unless it's complete. Paul's Jewish readers instinctively connected the concepts of something being whole, complete, sound, at peace, and perfect. The word shalom connotes all of those meanings. So when he says that Jesus was "made perfect," they understood that He completed His experience as Son. And when he points out that human priests never complete their duties, they could see that that system was not perfect.

The problem with priests. The problem is that a priest needs to be holy in order to stand before God - though there is "none righteous." And if such a perfect person existed, he couldn't very well represent us sinners! As we turn the pages of the book of Hebrews we're challenged to think deeply about the Old Covenant system of mediators and sacrifices, and we'll come to the conclusion that it's just not adequate. Our Great High Priest - Part 2 of 2

This will be on the test! Our school teachers who warned us what was going to be on the exam really didn't need to go to all that trouble. We had figured out pretty early that anything they repeated a lot - that was the important material. Well, the educator who instructed us in his letter to the Hebrews used a similar approach.
