For Everything There Is A Season - Part 1 of 2

Timing -is- everything! When we read the list of things that are appropriate in their time, in Ecclesiastes 3, we may be shocked. If there is "a time for war" as well as "a time for peace," then we need to be much more concerned about what time it is! Jesus often referred to this divine chronometry, with comments like, "My time has not yet come..." and, to doubters: "You cannot interpret the signs of the times." Solomon called them, "seasons."

The God We Can't Escape - Part 2 of 2

Are we spiritual beings, or are we animals? Solomon ran the experiment; it's a shame we didn't review his findings in Ecclesiastes. For half a century our culture has tried to live as if we are only material beings. And it doesn't work. Mental illness is epidemic. Empty people attach themselves to social causes and political campaigns in hopes of finding meaning. But if meaning is to be found, we'll have to look higher.
