Could something that's never happened, happen? By definition, if something has occurred, we know it can occur. But what about the unprecedented? We have a blind spot in this area, don't we? If something has never happened, in the entire history of the world, it's so unlikely that we'd be safe to think of it as impossible. That's an error that humanity fell into before the Flood.
