Evidence Isn't Enough

We are not rational creatures. We think we calmly listen to the evidence, then make up our minds about an issue based on the data. In fact what we usually do is pick the conclusion we like, and then find facts to defend it. Jesus ran into the "brick wall" of closed minds and hearts. Despite evidence like the raising of Lazarus from the dead, some simply chose not to believe.

Poor Jesus

Can you give more than you have? The Macedonian Christians seemed to have figured out that grace is never-ending. Like the loaves and fishes, you just keep reaching into the basket and there is always one more there! There is a balance here, too, as Paul outlines for the believers in Corinth in his second letter to them. We have a role in what Jim calls "managing the grace of God." The Livelihood

We know that Uncle Sam monitors our giving. Do we always keep in mind that Jesus watches, too? The Lord wasn't impressed by all the rich people pouring large amounts of money into the Temple treasury - though they were plenty impressed with themselves! They were just giving to God things they wouldn't miss. One poor widow, on the other hand! She taught a master class in generosity.
