We are not rational creatures. We think we calmly listen to the evidence, then make up our minds about an issue based on the data. What does it mean to be rich? Many of us who think of ourselves as "middle class" are actually rich in the global context. Can you give more than you have? The Macedonian Christians seemed to have figured out that grace is never-ending. Like the loaves and fishes, you just keep reaching into the basket and there is always one more there! There is a balance here, too, as Paul outlines for the believers in Corinth in his second letter to them. We have a role in what Jim calls "managing the grace of God." But it all goes back to the Son of God, and what He gave. "Christianity isn't a religion; it's a relationship," we say. But are we nurturing that relationship? What's one thing that anyone can give to God? It's true that everything we have comes from the Father, so we can offer Him nothing that isn't already His. We know that Uncle Sam monitors our giving. Do we always keep in mind that Jesus watches, too?
