Daniel's Prayer

"For I know the plans that I have for you...." One of the most comforting promises in the Bible is found in Jeremiah 29: "'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope.'" We know the verse, but do we know the context? It's right in the middle of Jeremiah's prophecy of a 70-year exile. Daniel was moved less by the general words of encouragement, and more by the math.
